Through all the years Joey spent with his nose buried in comics, never in his wildest dreams did he think one day he’d actually get to be a super-hero! But when his idol Captain Atomic is transformed into a puppet named AP, Joey discovers he can re-activate the puppet’s super powers by placing him on his fist.
Once Mega-City’s legendary hero, now just a powerless, living puppet, AP still has all the ego and swagger of Captain Atomic but is completely dependent on Joey to access his powers.
When AP and Joey power up they become Atomic Puppet, Mega-City’s newest hero! They possess the exact same super-powers that Captain Atomic had: super-sonic flight, earthshaking strength and lightning fast speed.
Captain Atomic was Mega-City’s greatest and most adored champion. But living life with super-powers, eventually led to Captain Atomic feeling invulnerable to the world around him and he failed to see that his inept sidekick Mookie was plotting to replace him. When Captain Atomic’s back was turned Mookie blasted him with one of his gadgets turning him into a puppet!
Pauline is possibly the only person who knows more inane superhero minutiae than Joey and it drives him insane! In fairness, Pauline’s comic knowledge is in her DNA; her uncle owns the local comic shop and she has been raised on super-hero mythology since she was a tiny know-it-all. Pauline is self-assured, quick-witted, and impulsive. She loves to taunt “the puppet” and takes great pride in pushing his buttons.
Phil Felt is a no-nonsense kind of dad and proud of it. He thinks kids have to toughen up and learn how to use their bare hands to make it in this world. Phil believes “Boys should live hard, work hard, play hard!” and he has high expectations for Joey. No kid of his is gonna’ be soft! Helmets, elbow-pads, video games have ruined kids forever! And don’t get him started on his son walking around all day with that “stupid puppet” hanging out of his pocket!
Abi is Joey’s younger sister and an innocent mix of both her Mom and Dad. She has sweet and caring moments with Joey, but she's also not opposed to calling him a dork if he's acting or dressing like one.
Phil's pride and joy, the apple of his eye....Bubbles. The family cat. While the rest of the family sees Bubbles as the portly and slightly below intelligence feline that he is, Phil sees Bubbles as the cutest most adorable kitty can in the world! AP on the other hand is convinced that Bubbles is actually an undercover villain names Disastro that has only one goal...to take down Atomic Puppet from the inside!
Captain Atomic’s former side-kick. Bitter and bruised over his failed coup to control Captain Atomic, Mookie is fueled by his lust for heroic stardom. He’s tired of living in another hero’s shadow (not to mention his mom’s basement) and he won’t rest until the citizens of Mega-City worship him as their one-true-hero, Sergeant Sub Atomic: The Nuclear Boy!
Rex made a career out of covering Captain Atomic’s over the top heroics. Every night he was guaranteed a “Top Story” that would blow his viewer’s socks off! Now without Captain Atomic to cover, Rex has been reduced to covering every small story he can get his hands on and is counting on Atomic Puppet to be the hero he needs to cement his spot as “Mega City’s #1 Newsman”.
